Our History
Roscoe’s House of Chicken and Waffles was founded in 1975 when Herb Hudson moved to California and noticed there weren’t many restaurants that stayed open late nights and served breakfast, lunch, and dinner at any time of the day or night. The savory and sweet combination soon became a fan favorite of many locals and quickly gained worldwide acclaim as Hollywood celebrities were often caught hanging out at the Sunset and Gower location. More than 48 years later, the brand has expanded to 7 locations across Southern California with nearly 800 employees and continues to make culinary history.
Since opening our first location our commitment to connect to the communities in which we serve has been a constant. In 2012, we launched Roscoe’s Media Center, a state-of-the-art broadcast facility which allows for workshops in various aspects of media and media production and has hosted over 36 shows in various genres, produced and streamed from one location.
Now we are expanding on that initiative through the Roscoe’s Motivation for Change Foundation and Roscoe’s Academy to create more programs, and we are working with other organizations to benefit our community in additional areas, including food insecurity, music, arts, media, culture, and various aspects of social justice.
Our Mission
We are dedicated to utilizing our resources to help not only our local communities but the world as a whole. Spreading joy through charitable activities has been an integral part of our foundation and continues to be the core of our initiatives. RMCF focuses on public service, entrepreneurship, community empowerment, and programming in the areas of education, arts, culture, job skills, and media training. Our goal is to connect with our community through resources and programs that will impact their lives.
